God is Long suffering
I want to continue for myself thinking about the who is God. I have covered a few things God is and tonight I want to consider the truth that God is long suffering. God gives you lots of time to repent and to make the call to Jesus. God wants all people everywhere to come to him. God does not want to judge people. God wants to bless you and your heart. Here is a verse to show the Lord wants all to get saved
2 peter 3 8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Here also is a verse to bunk the limited atonement thing in Calvinism. I do not think Jesus died for some He died for all sins. God Long suffering is a good thing for the nations that are being called to him and also a great thing for us as we are not living as we should. In long suffering I think the Lord is giving all a chance to serve him alone. He wants my devotion and he is going to make a way for me and I am not going to be ready to meet him till I am long suffering. Look in this in 1 Tim to see the Long suffering of Jesus
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all-longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Paul was not a good man when he met Jesus. He was a man that no one ever thought of to be a person Jesus would save. Paul hated Jesus with passion and in his testimony here he said how bad he was. Yet Jesus waited for Paul and made him a awesome man of God and a chief writer of the Bible. Jesus used Paul to show that he is ready to save the worst of the worst sinner. I made bad remarks about the Christians I knew yet Jesus wanted to save me and had long suffering for me and waited till I was ready. Jesus then saved me and I love him more and more all the time.
At least a few times the long suffering of the Lord is a thing he wants you to know. Here is a place where we see this
15 But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious,
Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.
God stresses that he is longsuffering and wants to give mercy and grace to his world.
Here is tonights bottom line. God is longsuffering so I want to praise him and make it so he does not have to wait for me to obey him and his word. As soon as I know the word I need to apply it and grow deeper in his grace
